Hi everyone,
We have unfortunately made the extremely difficult decision to cancel our open water swim event at Parc Bryn Bach on Sunday 19th August.
The unprecedented dry weather has affected the lake in terms of the water levels and the consistent daily sun has accelerated the weed growth within the lake. In May the venue invested heavily in an external contractor to remove weed within the lake and they did a fantastic job, however, due to the extremely sunny weather the weeds have returned in sections of the lake.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, however, the safety and enjoyment of our swimmers during our planned event is paramount to our team and we believe that this is the correct decision for this year.
All of our registered swimmers will be reimbursed their entry fee in full within the next 14 days and we will honour all our competition winners this year with the free entry in next years event.
We would like to thank all our registered swimmers, WhittleFit, Involve Recruitment, Zone3, Pulsin, Truestart Coffee and Big Bobble Hats for all your help, support and enthusiasm towards our event.
On a positive note, One Big Swim will return next year with more open water swimming events. We will be offering discounts to our events for early entries please keep in touch via twitter and Facebook.
Please note that Parc Bryn Bach are still offering open water swimming every Saturday morning from 08:00-09:15 and the swim area is not affected.
